Apple Computers announced today that the mighty App Store reached 1.5 billion App downloads today just after 1 year of launched. App Store was launched in June 11th, 2008. There are well over 65,000 Applications available in the App Store right now.
It looks like App Store is growing at a very rapid pace. See the graph above. The App Store is the largest application store in the world. According to Apple there are currently more than 100,000 App Developers in the iPhone Developer Program.
The App Store passed the 1 billion mark just three weeks ago, and now reached 1.5 billion in just a matter of weeks.
According to Steve Jobs “The App Store is like nothing the industry has ever seen before in both scale and quality,” said Steve Jobs, Apple’s CEO. “With 1.5 billion apps downloaded, it is going to be very hard for others to catch up.”
