Google officially announced today that they are introducing a new Operating System called “Google Chrome” The Operating System will be open source, fast, and light weight.
Google Chrome OS is targeted toward from small Netbooks to full blown desktops. The Chrome OS will be able to run on x86 systems which includes Intel Atom and ARM Chips.
Google plans to ship the new OS with Netbooks starting in the second half of 2010 then expand to desktop computers as follow. This will be interesting to see how the Google Chrome OS effect Microsoft and Apple since the Chrome OS supposed to aimed at speed, simplicity and security.
