
Recently Microsoft shows off “Project Natal”, a real time motion capture accessory for Xbox 360. Basically a a way to play your Xbox games with moving your whole body with out a controller.
Pictured above is the motion sensing unit that capture your body movement. The unit track 48 joint points on human body to accurately tray your motion. The Motion Unit uses two sensors. One video camera and one infrared camera.
The infrared calculate the depth and the movement of the video data feed and combine that with Microsoft’s custom programming to accurately track your movement.
It is believed that Microsoft is using their own in house technology for this project. According to Microsoft’s Shane Kim, The result is their studies done in Natural User Interfaces in the past. Pricing and availability is not yet reveled.
